Our School
St. James Middle School is located in southeastern Horry County near the south end of the Grand Strand and about five miles west of Surfside Beach. St. James Middle School is a public, suburban school housing seventh and eighth grades. The school was constructed in 1988 and opened its doors in 1989 with an initial enrollment of 592 students. Today, there are approximately 920 students at SJM.
St. James Middle School has been fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since our first self study for continuing accreditation 1989-1991. Students take four academic subjects and two exploratory classes each semester. SJM has also earned the following awards and recognitions.
